Michelle Pierce Hamilton (Tea Sommelier) and Bill Kamula (retired Tea Sommelier Instructor) will guide all who participate in this beautiful tea ceremony. 

Please pre-register (Free) your seat now to participate in this Tea Ceremony – we need a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 30 participants each day. This is a ticketed event, only those with a ticket will be allowed entry to participate.

There will be limited room for viewers (non-ticketed).

Across the world Wu Wo is practised at celebrations and may include from dozens to hundreds of participants.

According to the Belgium Chinese Tea Centre, the original meaning of Wu-Wo 無我 meant to vent the self-ego. In this gathering of strangers, one lovingly and selflessly brews tea to share with others, and in kind, one receives brewed tea. It is an energy of exchange, an exercise in openness and gratitude toward others, a meditation, all through the sharing of a simple cup of lovingly prepared tea. Participants of this ceremony may be of any background, culture and any level of experience with tea.

This exchange of tea is done in silence, with out any expectation of what one will experience, or likewise, who it is with whom one will share.

Much like a famous quote from the Tao Te Ching: “Free from desire, you realize the mystery. Caught in desire, you see only the manifestations.”

WHERE: Demo Stage (A) Room
WHEN: 4:00 pm
WHAT TO BRING:
  • Bring tea ware you wish to steep in, fair cup (serving pitcher) and 4 small cups; may be formal or in formal steepware, as long as you can steep 4 small cups
  • Tea to steep. It must be tea type conducive to a minimum of 2 infusions
WHATS PROVIDED:
  • Thermos of hot water for steeping

  • We may tea to serve other and our self
  • We learn by brewing and receiving
  • We share by brewing and serving
  • We progress by doing Wu Wo Tea Ceremony

We will make tea and serve to the three neighbours on the left.

We will receive from the three neighbours on the right an also drink our own tea.
